The Kanab Area Chamber team was busy in October. In addition to their monthly networking breakfast and luncheon, and special luncheon at Zion Mountain Ranch Resort, the Chamber hosted two ribbon cutting events.

The first was to celebrate Prickly Pear Ink & Piercings grand opening in their new location. Owner Teague Perkins and her husband Kolton were joined by friends, family and clients to celebrate with burgers, hot dogs and giveaways. After two years in their location on Kanab’s Center Street, they decided to make the move to the space that the liquor store vacated earlier in the summer. Chamber vice president Ron Thomas congratulated Teague and Kolton on their new location and then handed over the giant scissors that Teague used to cut the ribbon and kick off the festivities.

The second ribbon cutting was the grand opening of State Bank of Southern Utah’s brand new Kanab branch building. The speakers who addressed those gathered at this community event included State Bank of Southern President/CEO Trevor Andersen, the builder, the architect, and Daniel Johnson, branch lending manager. Daniel thanked the Kanab employees who “suffered through” working in the temporary trailer while the new building was being constructed. He shared that more important than just a building is the commitment to Kanab and their customers – this is a bank that values relationships. State Bank of Southern Utah has been doing business in Kanab for 47 years. This new space represents growth, opportunity and their continued commitment to excellence. After the ribbon was cut, everyone was invited in to the beautiful new space to share in food, prizes and camaraderie.
