November Chamber Luncheon at Southwest Tech

Kanab area chamber members and guests arrived at 11:30 AM on November 9th for the luncheon hosted by Southwest Tech's Kane Campus. Chamber President Pat Guerrero, Vice President Ron Thomas, and Treasurer Matt Claflin greeted the attendees as they arrived.

A hot lunch of chicken cordon bleu and vegetable sides was provided by chamber member Honey's Marketplace - thanks for the delicious food, Honey's!

Next, Don led the group in an "elevator pitch" exercise designed help focus understanding of the mission and goals of a small business. The slide deck for his presentation can be found here.

Jeff Mather and Cam Findlay spent a few minutes talking about their work at the Small Business Development Center (utahsbdc.org) and how they're now in Kanab once a month to coincide with the chamber's lunch meeting. They spoke about SBDC offering free consulting and trainings from start-up to succession planning and everything in between. No matter what stage a business is in, SBDC has tools to help a business leader succeed.

Lynn Jones, general manager of the Hampton Inn, later remarked "The meeting was great! I loved the topic today. It was very helpful, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves."

Pat Guerrero wrapped things up with a few announcements, including about the January 12th date for the annual Raising Kane Business Summit which will be held at the Kanab Center. Everyone should mark their calendars and plan to attend that event to network, become informed, and feel inspired.

Thank you to everyone who attended and presented, and don't forget our monthly networking breakfast at Parry Lodge at 8 AM on November 21st!
