Lunch, Breakfast, and Two New Board Members

At 11:30 on March 14th we gathered at Southwest Tech’s Kanab campus for 90 minutes of delicious food, good-natured networking, and fascinating insights. Our SBA guest speaker canceled on short notice, so chamber secretary Don Jennings and vice-president Ron Thomas took the wheel.

Chamber member Honey’s Marketplace provided lunch, which included pulled pork sandwiches, some truly delicious chili mac & cheese, and fresh green salad. Just before noon Don stood to provide an update on the chamber’s recent activities, upcoming events, and to welcome new members Hirschi Electric, iMpact Utah, and Red Rock Livin'. Renewing members since our last meeting included Ad-Air HVAC Services, Coral Cliffs Tours, Greyhound Gang, Happy Horse & Dog Pet Resort, Rascal Rodeo, West Winds Ranch.

JR Quarnberg took a few minutes to update the group on events at Southwest Tech, including an upcoming training with Brad Anderson, iMpact Utah’s Pit Crew Challenge, and some exciting news about hybrid classes – a combination of in-person and online – that will be coming soon.

Can you spot the jugglers?

The rest of the meeting consisted of Ron’s group-building activity, which was a blast. Everyone wrote down something relatively unknown about themselves, and we spent about 30 minutes trying to match the facts with faces. One big takeaway was that a not insignificant number of chamber members and guests wanted to join the circus when they were younger, with at least three jugglers/unicyclists among the attendees. Who knew?

Our monthly breakfast at Parry Lodge took place on March 19that 8 AM, with a dozen or so members and guests enjoying Parry’s delicious breakfast buffet and about an hour of informal catching up. If you haven’t been, these breakfasts are a great way to meet local business owners and city and county leaders. City Manager Kyler Ludwig and County Commissioner Celeste Meyeres are regular attendees.

Finally, the chamber is thrilled to welcome two new board members: Aspen Gatchell of Eagle Gate Title and Nicholas Meyeres of Burro Flats High Desert Lodge. The Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce continues to grow in 2024, and we’re excited to have Aspen and Nicholas on board!
