A beautiful, sunny day in Southern Utah welcomed Chamber of Commerce members to Kanab Hampton Inn for pizza provided by Pizza Hut. Chamber Board Member Lacee Brown was our MC, and made an opening announcements. She detailed new Chamber members Hope Hyperbarics, Kanab Yoga Collective, Land Beyond Zion Tours, and Prickly Pear Ink & Piercings. All three food pantries are supported by Kane County, City of Kanab, Town of Orderville, Five County AOG, Utah Food Bank, State and Federal Grants and by individual donations. The Kane County Care and Share program is the equivalent of a Food Bank serving Utah residents and is client choice. She talked about how families and/or individuals who pass the eligibility requirements can pick up client-choice food from the pantry to help subsidize their groceries.

Jerica also was on hand to discuss the Kane County active living centers which promote the social, physical, emotional, and nutritional well-being of older adults and those with disabilities. They provide services and activities that maintain senior citizen independence and wellness. Their mission is to enrich the quality of life and support independence and vitality for seniors. She went on to explain that the Kane County Active Living Centers locations are open for congregate lunch, home delivery or pick up.

Kristi Bundrick was up next with information about the Kane County Assistance Program (KCAP). This program helps with emergencies and unexpected situations, as well as provides assistance including food, prescriptions, utilities, gas, repairs, and other specific needs.

Lastly, Jackie Hobson with Utah’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) was present to tell our members about all they do for our area and beyond. Through a collaborative network of public and private partners, SBDC helps Utah-based manufacturers secure capital for equipment, expansion, and operations.
