The first Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the new State Bank of Southern Utah was quite a success. There were 40 attendees, most of whom had not been to the spacious second floor of the beautiful building. There was plenty of room for meeting & greeting, and eating the delicious sweet & sour chicken, rice and broccoli from Honey’s Deli. Brown Box donated dessert which was an assortment of their scrumptious cookies.
Chamber vice president Ron Thomas welcomed everyone and turned the time over to Daniel Johnson, lending manager at the branch, who also welcomed everyone on behalf of State Bank of Southern Utah. Then Ron and chamber board member Julie Williams announced the 4 new chamber members as well as those 20 who had renewed their membership since the last luncheon in December. Those announcements were followed by several chamber members sharing items of interest to the business community:
Jackie Hobson with the Small Business Development Center talked about the trainings she’s offering on “Business 101” and “Building a Bankable Business Plan”.
Kinetic IT Solutions invited folks to their free cybersecurity and IT best practices training
Janette Peatross spoke about the upcoming State of Utah Office of Tourism’s free tourism business development workshop that will be taking place in Kanab in April.
Kane County Hospital’s upcoming Top Off Ceremony will be taking place Monday, February 23rd at 1pm when there will be placement of the final structural beam on their new outpatient services building.
Raising Kane Job Fair will be Tuesday, March 3rd . Employers can sign up for a free table at raisingkanejobfair.com
New venue for Chamber networking breakfasts starts at Brown Box this month
Local Grand to Grand runners Ron Thomas and Neak Louks raising funds for Kane Community Youth Coalition to prevent substance abuse and suicide
The attendees then divided into five smaller groups for the networking activity. They took turns introducing themselves, shared a success and then a challenge. There was a lot of good energy during the conversations and that activity lasted until the end of the luncheon.
Next month the Chamber luncheon will be at Kanab’s Springhill Suites with Kanab City’s
Emily Bentley speaking on the benefit to communities of historic buildings.
