A Delicious Chamber Lunch Meeting at Vermillion 45

Terri Henry from TURN Community Services talks about her organization's work in rural Utah.

A beautiful sunny day greeted the April 14th chamber meeting at Vermillion 45 in Kanab, with bright light streaming through the windows to go along with the delicious smells from the kitchen.

Chamber President Pat Guererro, Vice-President Ron Thomas (Kanab Creative), and Secretary Don Jennings (DJ Consulting) handled the hosting duties. Attendees included Cindy Nelson from Realty One Goldmark, Tim Nelson from the Kaibab Paiute Tribe, Josh Warburton from The Independent, Bart Batista from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Julie Barger from Best Friends Roadhouse & Mercantile, Terri Henry from TURN Community Services (our newest member), Viveca Alldridge from Healing Strong, Dirk Clayson from ERA Real Estate, Megan Curley from Hampton Inn, Aaron Capafons from Desert Air HVAC, and Michelle Klenz and Chef Cesidio from Vermillion 45 and Kanab Creek Bakery.

Pat Guererro opened the meeting with a welcome to the group and thanks to hosts Michelle Klenz and Chef Cesidio of Vermillion 45. Ron Thomas followed up with a welcome to new and renewing member businesses. Don Jennings followed with some news about the chamber's new website and a brief outline of its plans for the future, followed by a Q&A with the group about member's thoughts about the chamber's work.

The latter was an informative and lively conversation that included learning more about the history of the chamber. Dirk Clayson of ERA Realty, and Karla Johnson, Kane County Clerk Auditor, spoke about their involvement with the organization over the years, both as members and officers of the board. Their insight into the chamber's past work will help to inform its plans going forward, and we're grateful to have them with us. Karla's thoughts about ways to unite members in support of local businesses and the community at large, and Dirk's observation that the chamber's work is unique in representing both tourism-related and other businesses, were welcome contributions to the discussion.

Next was a chance for each attendee to speak for a few minutes about what's new with their work. After hearing from everyone the meeting wrapped up with a bit more socializing before folks headed back out into the sunshine.

Check back here for more updates from the chamber and watch our calendar for upcoming meetings. Thank you for your support!
